Food 2 Kids
First Methodist launched Food to Kids (F2K) in the Fall of 2014 in order to address the problem of food insecurity in the Big Spring School District. With so many children on the free lunch or reduced lunch program in the district, we realized that many of those kids were also going with little or no food over the weekend when they had no access to food at school.
Twice a month, our members gather to fill sacks with food for those kids. Each Friday, teachers discretely place the sacks into the backpacks of children who participate in the program.
F2K first began as a pilot project at Goliad Elementary School in November 2014. By God's grace, we're now providing food to kids at each elementary campus in Big Spring!
'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink...' "The king will reply, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sister of mine, you did to me"
Jesus, Matthew 25:37-40
