What We Believe

As United Methodist Christians…

✓ We believe there is one God who has revealed himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

✓ We believe that Jesus Christ was both fully human and fully God, that he lived a sinless life here on earth, and died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sin, and rose victoriously to conquer the powers of hell and death.

✓ We believe that sin separates us from God but that a new relationship with God is made available to us through Jesus Christ.

✓ We believe that God grants salvation from sin to those who place their trust in Jesus Christ.

✓ We believe that salvation is through Christ alone.

✓ We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God.

✓ We believe that we experience God’s presence in our lives through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

✓ We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers us to become like Christ in our character and to live like him in our daily lives.

✓ We believe that Christ commanded the church to observe two sacraments – water baptism and the Lord’s Supper (or Holy Communion).

✓ We believe that the Lord’s Table should be open to all persons who repent of their sin and seek to live a Christ-like life.

✓ We believe that water baptism may be administered to new believers by immersion, sprinkling, or pouring in the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

✓ We believe that the children of believing

parents/guardians may be baptized and included in the family of God.

✓ We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the only sufficient guide for faith and practice.  It is the final authority in all matters pertaining to faith.

✓ We believe that Christ will come again one day to judge the living and the dead.
